Find the Right Laser Treatment for You
Laser Hair Removal for Women
Face, underarms, bikini and legs, from one small area to full body.
How laser hair removal works
Laser light is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair and turns to heat inside the follicle, damaging it enough to slow and weaken future growth. The skin is cooled throughout, so the energy goes into the hair, not the skin.
Works with your hair's growth cycle
The laser only affects hairs actively growing on the day, so a course of sessions, weeks apart, is needed to reach them all.
Best on dark hair
Dark hair holds the most pigment. Fine, blonde, grey, white or red hair responds poorly or not at all.
Honest from the start
If your hair is unlikely to respond, we'll tell you at your consultation, before you pay for a course.
Your consultation and patch test
Every laser client starts with a consultation, not a treatment. Ask questions, find out whether laser will work for your hair and skin, and get a clear plan and price, with no pressure to book a course on the day.
- Takes 20 to 30 minutes
- £20, taken off the price of your treatment or course, so it costs nothing extra if you go ahead
What happens at your laser hair removal consultation?
Skin & hair assessment
We check skin tone, hair colour and thickness on each area, and take a Skintel reading of your skin's melanin.
Medical & safety review
Medication, recent sun, past skin treatments and keloid history can affect results. Bring a list of everything you take.
Patch test on each area
A few pulses at your planned settings on every area. It takes minutes and feels like a quick, warm snap.
Your plan & price
How many sessions, how far apart and what a course costs. If laser isn't right for you, we'll say so.
48-hour check
We wait at least 48 hours to see how your skin responds. Most clients start treatment the following week.
Before your patch test
- Shave the areas the day before. No waxing, plucking, threading or hair-removal cream for four weeks.
- No sunbeds, sunbathing or fake tan on those areas for at least two weeks.
- Come without make-up, deodorant or body lotion on the test areas.
- Tell us if you're pregnant, on new medication or have had a recent skin reaction.
After the test
The skin may look a little pink for a few hours. For 24 to 48 hours, skip hot showers, saunas and the gym, and keep the area out of the sun.

Our most popular areas
Every area has its own settings, appointment length and number of sessions.
Face
Upper lip, chin, jawline, cheeks and neck. The most common reason women start laser, often hormone-linked, and popular with men who get shaving rash or ingrown hairs. Usually needs the full course and the occasional top-up.
Underarms
The quickest area, with one of the most noticeable results: less stubble, fewer ingrown hairs, no more shaving rash. Many clients see a clear reduction within six sessions.
Bikini, Brazilian and Hollywood
Standard bikini (the sides), Brazilian (extended) or Hollywood (everything), in a private room with each step explained first. Clients with ingrown hairs often notice the difference first.
Legs
Half legs (upper or lower, incl. knee) or full legs. One of the areas where laser works best, as the hair is usually dark and the skin less sensitive than the face.
Back, shoulders and chest
The most requested areas for men. Dense, testosterone-driven hair often needs eight to ten sessions. The large treatment head fits back and shoulders into one appointment.
Full body
Full legs, full arms, bikini and underarms in one appointment. The face isn't included, as it needs its own settings. Treating three or more areas? A full-body course usually costs less per area.

Advanced Laser Technology: the Cynosure Elite iQ Pro
Two wavelengths in one system. Your settings are chosen after an individual assessment of your skin and hair at your consultation.
Alexandrite 755 nm
Used for lighter skin tones with darker hair, and fast across larger areas.
Nd:YAG 1064 nm
Reaches deeper into the skin, so it suits coarse, deep-rooted hair. Your practitioner chooses the right wavelength for you.
Skintel reading and cooling
Skintel measures your skin's melanin before every session, so the energy is set for you rather than estimated. Built-in cooling protects the surface.
- Two wavelengths in one system, matched to your skin tone
- A Skintel melanin reading before every session
- Built-in cooling to keep treatment comfortable
- Fast on large areas such as legs and back
- Treats coarse and finer dark hair
- Suitable for face and body, for women and men
- Little or no downtime; most clients go straight back to their day
- Protective eyewear for every client, every session
Technology matters. Expert hands make the difference.
Your course, session by session
Most areas need six to eight sessions. This is what a typical course looks like, from first visit to finished.
Consultation and patch test
A 20 to 30-minute assessment, a patch test on each area, and a plan and price. Then at least 48 hours before your first session.
Shedding begins
Treated hair sheds one to three weeks after each visit and regrowth becomes patchier and slower. Sessions are usually four to six weeks apart.
Clear thinning
The hair that grows back is finer and lighter. As growth slows, the gap between sessions may lengthen.
The stubborn follicles
Usually on the face, back or chest, and where hair growth is driven by hormones.
Maintenance
A top-up once or twice a year for most clients. A full course takes around six to ten months, so starting in autumn means most of it is done before summer.
Is laser hair removal right for you?
Likely to suit you if
- You have dark hair
- You're tired of shaving rash, ingrown hairs or regular waxing
- You want long-term reduction, not a result for one occasion
- You can keep to sessions every four to six weeks for most of a year
Not suitable, or not yet, if
- Your hair is blonde, grey, white or red; the laser can't see it
- You're pregnant; we'll plan your course for afterwards
- The area is tanned, fake-tanned or has had recent sunbed use
- You take isotretinoin or medication that makes skin sensitive to light; tell us at your consultation
- You have a sunny holiday planned mid-course
Not sure? That's what the consultation is for.
Laser compared with other methods
Each method suits a different need. Laser costs more up front, but it replaces years of repeat appointments and razors, and takes far less time.
Shaving
- How long it lasts: Regrowth in one to three days
- Time it takes: Minutes, several times a week
- Best for: Quick tidy-ups
Waxing
- How long it lasts: Three to six weeks
- Time it takes: An appointment every four to six weeks
- Best for: Any hair colour, in the short term
IPL
- How long it lasts: Reduction over a course
- Time it takes: A course of sessions
- Best for: Light skin with dark hair; broad-spectrum light, less targeted than a medical laser
Electrolysis
- How long it lasts: Treats each hair individually
- Time it takes: Many sessions, one hair at a time
- Best for: Small areas, and blonde, grey or red hair that laser can't treat
Medical laser
- How long it lasts: Long-term reduction; finer, sparser regrowth
- Time it takes: Six to eight sessions over most of a year
- Best for: Larger areas and dark hair

Results from our clinic
Real clients, treated at our Manchester clinic. Most notice patchier regrowth after two or three sessions, and a clear difference by the middle of their course.
Individual results vary. We can't guarantee specific outcomes, because results depend on factors unique to each person, including hair colour, skin type and hormones. We'll tell you honestly at your consultation what to expect.

Side effects, and how we reduce them
Laser hair removal is a medical treatment, and it has side effects. The most common is redness with small bumps around the follicles, a little like a nettle rash, which settles within a day or so.
Less often there can be swelling, blistering or lighter or darker patches of skin, most often when the skin has recently been tanned or the settings don't suit it.
How we reduce the risk
- A patch test on every area
- A medical history check at your consultation
- Your skin measured before every session
- SPF 30 or higher on treated skin throughout your course
If anything feels wrong after a session, call us.
Laser hair removal questions
Is laser hair removal worth the money? Is it cheaper than shaving?
If you wax regularly, a six-session course usually costs about the same as one to two years of waxing, and the results last far longer. Compared with shaving, the main benefit is time saved and fewer ingrown hairs and less razor rash, rather than money. It’s best value on coarse, dark hair, and poor value on fine or light hair.
How many sessions of laser hair removal will I need?
Most people need six to eight sessions, four to eight weeks apart, and see thinning after two or three. Three sessions are rarely enough, because laser only treats hair in its active growth phase. Facial hair, hormonal hair and men’s hair often need 8–12 sessions, which is normal.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Not 100%. The accurate term is permanent hair reduction. A full course removes most hair in the treated area for the long term, but hormonal changes, pregnancy or age can activate dormant follicles later, so most clients have one or two top-up sessions a year.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most people describe it as a quick, warm flick, and many find it easier than waxing. The upper lip, bikini and underarms are the most sensitive areas; legs and arms are mild. Our Cynosure Elite iQ Pro has built-in cooling, and your practitioner can adjust the settings during the session.
Do you offer laser hair removal for men?
Yes. Popular areas include the back and shoulders, chest, neck, and the beard and cheek line for a sharper edge. Laser is also very effective for razor bumps and ingrown hairs. Men’s hair is denser, so expect around 8–12 sessions. We plan beard lines carefully, because treated areas are hard to grow back.
